Speed@BDD Team and Alumni at BOIL 2016
Did you miss out on the funding panel at the 2016 “Business Opportunities in Lebanon” event? Our recap is here to the rescue!
On 19 October 2016, Speed@BDD’s CEO, Sami Abou Saab, participated in the panel on “New funds for entrepreneurs”. Moderated by LFE’s own Abdallah Jabbour, the panelists tackled the creation of funding organizations in the past years in Lebanon and discussed how these organizations are investing in the local startup ecosystem.
The event’s inaugural ceremony focused on the green business strategy undertaken by Lebanon Opportunities since 2011. Its aim is to inspire companies to become eco-friendlier and promote environmental protection and innovations. The ceremony was also the occasion to highlight the three winners of the Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC), an initiative by Berytech and USJ. With Fondation Diane on board as a strategic partner, this year’s competition took on a green dimension and has selected 3 startups to receive funding of up to $40K in cash, hosting, and mentorship. Next Automated Robots and Carpolo, Speed@BDD alumni, alongside Riego whom we coached for the 2016 Hyundai Startup Competition, were all presented awards for their green solutions. Congrats guys!
